# How to create your first order from a chat?

Once your account is connected to WhatsApp Business
[https://orders.app/help/article/1017-how-to-connect-your-whatsapp-business-account]
or Instagram
[https://orders.app/help/article/1011-how-to-connect-with-instagram], Orders App
can automatically turn the messages your customers send into real orders. This
guide walks you through it with a real example, from the moment a customer sends
their details to seeing the finished order in your app.

ASK YOUR CUSTOMER FOR THE ORDER DETAILS

You can collect the order details in two ways:

 * Share an order template. Send your customer a short message that lists the
details you need. They fill it in and send it back.

 * Chat normally. Ask for the details over a few messages, the way you usually
do. Orders App reads the whole conversation, including the replies, and picks
   out the order details.

A template is the quickest way to make sure nothing important gets missed. For
example, a home bakery might send:

> To place an order, please share these details:
>
> Customer Details:
> Name:
> Phone:
>
> Product Details:
> Item Name:
> Size:
> Quantity:
>
> Other Details:
> Address:

CUSTOMER SENDS THEIR ORDER

Your customer fills in the template and sends it back to you in the chat. For
example:

> Customer Details:
> Name: Jenny Fox
> Phone: +971 50 123 4567
>
> Product Details:
> Item Name: Saffron Milk Cake
> Size: 1 kg
> Quantity: 1
>
> Other Details:
> Address: Apt 404, Building 7, Al Furjan, Dubai

If you're chatting normally, the same details can come in over a few messages.
That works too.

ORDERS APP CREATES THE ORDER

As soon as the details arrive, Orders App reads the chat and creates the order
for you. You'll get a notification that a new order has come in, with its order
number.

OPEN YOUR NEW ORDER

Tap the notification, or open your Orders screen and tap the new order.
Everything the customer sent is now organized into a clean order: the customer's
name, the total, the shipping address, the items and the payment.

That's it. Your first order is in, and every order after this follows the same
simple flow. 🎉
